LEBANON -- John R. Alexander, 77, theater owner, died in his home here Thursday after an illness of 18 months. He was the owner of theaters in Attica, Monticello, Lebanon and Rockville. Born at New Richmond, he came to Lebanon in 1924 after starting in the theater business in his hometown. His family first operated in an upstairs room over another place of business. He was co-owner of a circus in his early life and at one time he also was associated with the Ford Motor Co., in Detroit. He later formed a motion picture partnership with his brother-in-law, Frank Carey, and their first business venture was at Hammond. They bought and sold a number of theaters. Mr. Alexander was married in Frankfort in 1910 to Ina Pence who died just a year ago. He was a member of the Methodist Church at New Richmond and the Lebanon Elks. Surviving is a son, Jack P. Alexander of Lebanon.
